Terran Orbital has announced that 10 satellites incorporating its buses have been deployed in low earth orbit. The satellites form part of the Tranche 0 Transport Layer of the Space Development Agency’s (SDA) Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA). Terran Orbital manufactured the buses for Lockheed Martin for payload integration and delivery to the SDA.
Terran Orbital is focused on establishing new benchmarks for satellite technology and aims to contribute significantly to the industry. The company is currently producing 42 satellite buses for Lockheed Martin, which will deliver 42 Tranche 1 Transport Layer satellites for launch in 2024.
The satellites deployed by Terran Orbital feature advanced capabilities such as optical communications links, Link-16 mission communications, a Ka-band RF communications payload, and a BMC3 module for on-orbit data processing. These features enhance the functionality and performance of the satellites.
Terran Orbital acknowledges the collaboration with Lockheed Martin and expresses its gratitude for the opportunity to leverage its small satellite solution expertise to support critical missions. As a manufacturer primarily catering to the aerospace and defense sectors, Terran Orbital continues to make significant progress in advancing satellite technology.
Overall, Terran Orbital’s successful deployment of the 10 satellites is another milestone in its journey to drive innovation and contribute to the Space Development Agency’s strategic goals.
