Teachers and learners at Paoay East Central Elementary School (PECES) in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, are excited about the upcoming installation of Starlink Internet. This satellite Internet system, operated by American aerospace company SpaceX, will provide faster and more reliable Internet connectivity for the school.
PECES head, Roberto Cachero, expressed gratitude to Senator Loren Legarda for spearheading the installation of Starlink Internet in their school. This new broadband system will bridge the connectivity gap and enable teachers to participate in online meetings and seminars, while also improving educational opportunities for students.
In addition to the installation of Starlink Internet, Senator Legarda’s team also distributed 90 tablets to selected learners at PECES and Sideg Elementary School. This initiative aims to enhance digital learning and ensure that students have access to educational resources.
The previous Internet connection at PECES was slow, limiting the ability to stream videos or support multiple devices for teaching and learning purposes. With the installation of Starlink Internet, the school will have faster and more accessible Internet connectivity, especially in remote areas.
Senator Legarda expressed her commitment to providing quality education to all Filipino students, regardless of their location. The installation of Starlink Internet is seen as a significant step in bridging the digital divide and empowering students.
Starlink Internet offers a bandwidth of 350 megabytes per second, allowing users to upload and download files, stream videos, and participate in online classes more smoothly. It also provides low latency, which is beneficial for real-time applications such as video conferencing.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and SpaceX are currently deploying Starlink to enhance Internet connectivity in schools. This partnership aims to ensure that students across the country have access to quality education through reliable Internet connections.
