SpaceX has recently unveiled a new version of its Starlink terminal, which is thinner and simpler compared to the previous version. The new terminal has a 10% larger field of view and does not require motorization for adjustment. Instead, users can easily move its position to direct it.
According to The Verge, the new Standard Starlink terminal is currently available only to a small group of existing customers in the United States through invitation. SpaceX mentioned that they are unable to accommodate orders from customers who have not received an invitation.
SpaceX has also improved the weather resistance of the product, upgrading its rating from IP54 to IP67. This means that the terminal is now dustproof and capable of being submerged in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes without potential damage.
The new Starlink terminal is specified to operate in wind speeds exceeding 60 mph. However, no pricing information has been provided by Starlink for this product.
The previous version of the terminal had an IP54 weather resistance rating and could withstand snow melting at a rate of up to 44mm per hour. It was also operable in temperatures ranging from -30 degrees Celsius to 50 degrees Celsius.
The Standard Starlink terminal is designed for residential users and everyday internet applications such as streaming, video calls, online gaming, and more.
