Springfield-based organization, The Phoenix Center, is pleased to announce the opening of a new satellite location called OUT East. Situated at 1107 S Grand Avenue East, this site will focus on providing free testing for HIV, hepatitis C, and sexually transmitted diseases. In addition, OUT East will offer condoms and information on PrEP and harm reduction services.
The expansion of The Phoenix Center’s services is in response to the growing needs of the community. Their mission is to promote the health, well-being, and equal rights of all LGBT individuals. By offering accessible and inclusive HIV prevention services and screenings, The Phoenix Center aims to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to receive the support they need.
To commemorate the opening of OUT East, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on December 1st, which is also World AIDS Day. This event will further raise awareness about the importance of HIV prevention and encourage community engagement.
The Phoenix Center plans to establish another site, OUT North, in the near future. Both locations will be operated by qualified staff members, such as Harm Reduction Specialist Tiara Standage and Sara Bowen-Lasisi, the director of public health services.
For the convenience of the community, the OUT East location will be open from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The forthcoming OUT North location will offer additional services on the north side of Springfield.
The Phoenix Center is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for individuals seeking assistance. They strive to create a space where people feel comfortable asking questions and receiving the necessary help. The expansion of their public health services is a significant step towards fulfilling this vision and meeting the diverse needs of the community.
