NOW Telecom has signed a memorandum of understanding with AST & Science LLC, a Nasdaq-listed satellite company, to expand connectivity services in urban and remote regions lacking coverage in the Philippines. This partnership aims to provide comprehensive communication services, including voice, video, data, and internet connectivity, to areas with limited or non-existent infrastructure.
AST & Science, with its network of low earth orbit satellites, enables communications and internet connectivity in isolated areas where traditional land-based cell towers are difficult to build. Through this collaboration, NOW Telecom aims to establish a bigger footprint across the country and enhance its Trusted Network initiative by working with trusted vendors in the telecommunications industry.
The partnership with AST & Science complements NOW Corp’s 5G initiatives to provide high-speed connectivity in the Philippines. The company has also partnered with Fortinet Inc. to offer cybersecurity solutions for enterprise clients, leveraging Fortinet’s expertise in tracking system vulnerabilities and protecting against hackers. Additionally, NOW has signed a memorandum of understanding with Celona Inc. to expand its broadband telecommunication network and roll out private wireless systems for business clients, targeting industries such as manufacturing, oil and natural gas, logistics, and transportation.
The Philippines has seen significant developments in space-based connectivity, including the entry of Starlink, a tech mogul’s satellite project. Local telecommunication companies are collaborating with satellite players to strengthen their infrastructure.
NOW Telecom, a listed company involved in telecommunications, media and technology, focuses on software licenses and services, IT manpower and resource augmentation, and broadband and wireless cable TV services as its key operating segments.
