MDA Ltd. has received an Authorization to Proceed (ATP) contract from an undisclosed customer to begin work on a new Non-Geostationary Orbit (NGSO) satellite constellation. The ATP contract is valued at approximately $180 million and will involve engineering and programmatic activities, as well as the procurement of long-lead items.

The complete constellation is expected to be worth at least $750 million and will consist of a minimum of 36 MDA software-defined digital satellites. MDA, as the prime contractor, is anticipating the definitive contract for the full constellation to be finalized in 2024.

This development will contribute to MDA’s backlog in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2023.
