A 20-year-old woman from Nashik, Maharashtra, filed a complaint with Satellite police in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, alleging that the owner of the PG facility she was staying in had flashed and molested her. The incident occurred late on Monday.
The woman, who had come to Ahmedabad to pursue her LLB and was doing an internship at the Gujarat High Court, decided to stay at the PG facility near Shivranjani Crossroads with two friends who were also interning at the same court.
On the night of the incident, the accused, identified as Akash Ajmera, entered the woman’s room when she was alone. He asked her inappropriate questions about smoking, drinking, and her sexual activity. When the woman objected and warned him not to engage in obscene talk, Ajmera allegedly exposed himself and molested her.
The victim managed to push him out of the room and lock the door. She then called a male friend for help, who rushed to the PG facility. Ajmera objected to the presence of the woman’s friend and ended up attacking him with a rod. The woman intervened and also faced an attack from Ajmera, causing injuries.
Upon learning of the incident, the victim’s father called Ajmera, who threatened to harm his daughter. In response, the victim contacted the police control room and filed a complaint, accusing Ajmera of molestation, causing hurt, using abusive words, and criminal intimidation.
Satellite police have since arrested Ajmera, a 33-year-old resident of Motipark Society in Satellite, on the charges mentioned in the complaint.
To protect the victim’s privacy, her identity has not been disclosed, in accordance with the Supreme Court’s directives regarding cases related to sexual assault.
