Remote Yabbi Elementary School Now Online through Project Reiinn

Yabbi Elementary School in Dupax del Norte, Nueva Vizcaya is now connected to the internet through the efforts of the Department of Science and Technology (DoST) with the installation of Starlink and LokalFi network. The DoST-ASTI and Data Lake teams visited the school on September 7-8, 2023 to facilitate the installation process.

The Starlink technology ensures a stable internet connection even in remote areas, while LokalFi helps establish local wireless networks. This development is significant for Yabbi Elementary School, which previously lacked internet access and proper infrastructure. Now, students have the same opportunities as their urban counterparts, gaining access to online lessons and educational resources.

Teachers at Yabbi Elementary School can now employ innovative teaching methods and collaborate with educators worldwide, enhancing their students’ learning experiences. Additionally, the LokalFi network provides exclusive educational content through applications such as LokalFlix, MathPlus, and Starbooks.

The impact of this connectivity extends beyond the school. It benefits the entire community and creates opportunities for local businesses, healthcare services, and improved communication with the outside world. The DoST-Nueva Vizcaya aims to involve the local government unit of Dupax del Norte to ensure the sustainability and continuous improvement of the project.

Project Reiinn, initiated by DoST-ASTI, aims to bridge the digital gap in remote areas, recognizing the importance of internet access for communication and education. The installation of Starlink and LokalFi at Yabbi Elementary School is a significant step towards achieving this goal.
