Telecommunications company MediaMobil has partnered with Eutelsat Communications to provide maritime connectivity for ships and offshore vessels. Eutelsat will offer its Advance managed service to connect MediaMobil’s fleet of over 100 multipurpose, tanker, and offshore construction vessels.
This agreement marks a shift towards a service leasing model, in line with Eutelsat’s strategy. MediaMobil, a longstanding customer of Eutelsat, believes that this service license agreement will allow them to enhance their position as a premium VSAT service provider, while also reducing bandwidth costs for users. Furthermore, MediaMobil plans to leverage Eutelsat’s OSS capabilities to develop integrated multi-orbit satellite services in conjunction with the LEO system, offering a unique quality-of-experience for customers.
The specific terms of the deal have not been disclosed. This partnership is Eutelsat’s latest success in the maritime sector, following a recent agreement with Can Marine Systems for access to satellite connectivity in the Asia-Pacific region.
