Starlink Satellites Pass Over El Bierzo

On Monday, November 20th, the Starlink satellites passed through the sky of El Bierzo. This video was recorded from the municipality of Puente de Domingo Flórez. Starlink is a ‘constellation’ of satellites being developed by Elon Musk’s company, SpaceX, with the goal of providing internet access to any part of the planet.

The company plans to have approximately 12,000 satellites in orbit, allowing users to pay a monthly fee to connect from anywhere in the world. The intention is not to compete with fiber or 5G connections, but rather to provide connections for areas without fixed network coverage.

The region of El Bierzo had the opportunity to witness this visual spectacle created by the satellites in the sky. Although it caught most people by surprise, the website ‘See a Satellite Tonight’ provides the exact time, location, and direction in which the satellites can be seen.

With this development, Elon Musk aims to bridge the digital divide and provide internet access to those in remote areas who currently lack reliable connectivity. The Starlink satellites are an innovative solution that has the potential to revolutionize internet access worldwide.
