Seneca Meadows Landfill Faces Opposition for Expansion

Seneca Meadows, the largest landfill in the state of New York, is facing pushback from local community members, business owners, and environmentalists over plans to expand the landfill. With a height of nearly 300 feet, the landfill currently takes in approximately two million tons of trash every year, including waste from New York City.

In other news, Jann Wenner, the co-founder of Rolling Stone magazine, has been removed from the board of directors of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. This decision came after Wenner made controversial comments suggesting that Black and female musicians were not “articulate.”

Meanwhile, in New Jersey, 27 Boston Market locations have been closed for over a month due to stop-work orders issued by the Department of Labor. These orders were issued because the workers in these restaurants were not receiving proper wages. The owner has since paid out over $630,000 to hundreds of workers, and the eateries will be permitted to resume operations.

On a lighter note, the mysterious string of white lights observed in the sky above New Jersey on Saturday night were not UFOs, but rather Elon Musk’s SpaceX Starlink satellites.

A new art installation called “Echoes – A Voice from Unchartered Waters” can be seen in the Garment District. The installation features a 55-foot-long whale with interactive sound and light, and will be on display until November 13.

Starting next month, the price of parking meters in Manhattan’s most congested areas will begin to rise, with drivers seeing higher costs first on October 16.
