Cunard Ships to Upgrade Wi-Fi Capabilities with Starlink’s Low Earth Orbit Satellite Technology

Cunard ships will soon experience a significant boost in their Wi-Fi capabilities thanks to Starlink’s advanced Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite technology. This development aims to enhance the connectivity experience for both guests and crew.

According to Cunard President, Katie McAlister, staying connected with friends and family back home is an integral part of any vacation. Whether it’s sharing a beautiful sunset photo or keeping up with news and live events, Starlink will make it easier for guests to stay connected while on board.

By leveraging SpaceX’s Starlink technology, Cunard fleet can anticipate hassle-free sharing of photos and videos, seamless streaming of movies, and access to a wide range of onboard content. The new Wi-Fi connection is expected to be more robust, reliable, and significantly faster.

The gradual deployment of Starlink on Cunard’s Queens is scheduled to commence in June 2023. By the end of the year, guests aboard Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria, and Queen Elizabeth can expect the service to be available in public areas and staterooms.

Starlink Vice President of Commercial Sales, Jonathan Hofeller, highlighted the importance of high-speed internet in our modern lifestyle, both at home and while traveling. He expressed excitement about Cunard guests and crew benefiting from an improved Wi-Fi service, regardless of their location in the world.

This development signifies Cunard’s commitment to providing a top-notch connectivity experience for their passengers. With Starlink’s cutting-edge technology, Cunard ships can offer a more enjoyable and convenient online experience, ensuring guests can effortlessly connect with their loved ones and stay informed during their voyages.
