Cunard has announced that it is introducing a new Wi-Fi service on board its ships in collaboration with SpaceX’s Starlink. Starlink, a leader in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite technology, will provide guests with improved capacity across all Cunard ships, enabling them to share photos, stream movies, and enjoy other content with a more reliable and faster Wi-Fi connection.
The roll-out of Starlink aboard Cunard’s ships began in June 2023, with plans to make the service available in public spaces and staterooms on Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria, and Queen Elizabeth by the end of 2023. Additionally, Cunard’s newest ship, Queen Anne, will launch with the Starlink service in May 2024.
President of Cunard, Katie McAlister, emphasized the importance of staying connected while on vacation. She stated that the service will make it easier for guests and crew to share unforgettable moments with friends and family back home, whether it’s uploading pictures or catching up with news and live events.
Jonathan Hofeller, the Vice President of Commercial Sales at Starlink, highlighted the significance of high-speed internet in today’s lifestyle, both at home and while traveling. He expressed excitement that Cunard guests and crew will benefit from an enhanced Wi-Fi service, regardless of their location around the world.
