Astral Resources NL (ASX:AAR) is making progress in developing its Feysville Gold Project in Western Australia as a satellite source of high-grade ore for its flagship Mandilla Gold Project. Latest results from a recently completed reverse circulation drilling program at Feysville’s Kamperman Prospect have extended high-grade gold mineralization to a strike length of 240 meters. Feysville already hosts a mineral resource estimate of 3 million tonnes at 1.3 g/t for 116,000 ounces of gold. The drilling program included eight holes, with previous results showing impressive grades, including 2 meters at 187.7 g/t gold. Assay results for the remaining six holes have now been received, with highlights including 21 meters at 4.16 g/t gold and 35 meters at 2.19 g/t gold.
Pending geochemical assay results from the Feysville drilling program might lead to a shift in Astral’s exploration efforts towards the Kamperman prospect, away from the Mandilla project. The Kamperman prospect is showing promise with each line of relatively wide-spaced drilling returning significant high-grade assay results. These latest results have confirmed the presence of mineralization over a 240-meter strike length, which remains open in both directions. Astral Resources managing director Marc Ducler expressed excitement about Kamperman’s potential as an exploration target.
Astral Resources has also been active at its Mandilla Gold Project, which is located 70 km south of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. The project includes multiple deposits and has a mineral resource estimate of 37 million tonnes at 1.1 g/t gold for 1.27 million ounces of gold. The company has three drill rigs mobilized at Mandilla, with drilling underway at Theia and plans for additional drilling at Eos. Astral is on track to report on Mandilla’s scoping study later this month.
